Rhines Hall is utilized by the Department of Materials and Science and Engineering as a teaching and graduate school laboratory building. The 48, 000 square foot building addition and 22, 000 square foot renovation will provide space for administration, student services and laboratories.
The labs are the main components of the building and are used by graduate students for research and development. The design team and user group together designed flexible spaces that provide the necessary recourses for any given variety and research. facilities include fume hoods, closed-loop process water, individual load centers and an open floor plan. The labs were required to be flexible in their design not only for today’s requirements but also for future needs.
