KBJ Architects has designed additions, renovations, site improvements and remodeling for the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The new construction included a re-design of the main entry providing a multi-purpose circulation space to provide access to the main offices of administration and the classrooms on campus. Additional construction included a state of the art Media Center for film production, editing, and viewing, a recording control room and studio, a multipurpose rehearsal hall for all the arts, multiple theatrical and music practice rooms, a drafting area for theatrical set design, various music and vocal labs, and multi-purpose conference / lounging rooms. Each space provides the latest tools necessary to promote a student’s growth and advancement in all fields of the performing arts. The new systems are integrated with existing systems to provide campus- wide access to resources and technologies
Renovations to existing buildings have provided 5 new art labs, a reading room, computer lab, chemistry lab, creative writing labs, and a renovation of the main administration building mentioned above. Additionally, the project provided exterior enhancement of existing buildings and replacement of windows. The project includes major maintenance to replace a 30 ton air cooled chiller in the existing music suite, re-duct, re-control replace all wall hung units, rewiring of electrical systems to accommodate new technologies in old buildings, and a redesign of the mechanical systems for the campus.
